But yes, American women were talked about for wearing their fine, thin shoes in all weather. Overshoes were ugly! ;)Scene in the Pasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00152966266473265321noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7953319607326764763.post-12305512410502931762013-01-06T13:21:11.401-08:002013-01-06T13:21:11.401-08:00Hi AuntieNan - they wore boots! This is not to say that ladies did not wear low-top slippers/pumps out walking, etc. American women were notorious for wearing highly impractical and delicate footwear out of doors, because it was feminine and becoming, in the views of the past. English women didn't have this silliness - they wore sturdy, practical boots.Lauren Stowellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09008240537371936468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7953319607326764763.post-16669801343201083802013-01-06T13:17:30.540-08:002013-01-06T13:17:30.540-08:00I have one in the works, in dyeable satin :-)I have one in the works, in dyeable satin :-)Lauren Stowellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09008240537371936468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7953319607326764763.post-40986519887668263822013-01-06T13:16:21.578-08:002013-01-06T13:16:21.578-08:00You are most welcome! :-)You are most welcome! :-)Lauren Stowellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09008240537371936468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7953319607326764763.post-18572632504466709892013-01-06T12:23:44.361-08:002013-01-06T12:23:44.361-08:00The slippers are all lovely -- actually, I adore A...The slippers are all lovely -- actually, I adore ANYTHING that sports a French heel! But these are so obviously indoor shoes. I can't see any of them lasting a week on muddy lanes, cobblestones, or even paved sidewalks. What did they wear in the way of practicality, on a railway journey, say, or going to town?<br />Thanks for these I mages and the list of shared charactistics.
